At ServeLocal, we always say that our volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and it couldn’t be truer. Each month volunteers transport and pack roughly 2,500 pounds of food, and then lovingly serve the families that come to pick up the groceries. But ServeLocal is about so much more than that. It’s about showing God’s love to people in unexpected ways.
A client recently reached out and asked if we could help her find a washer and dryer. She has twins and hasn’t had the appliances for 3 months! Once the word was out, it took less than a day for a volunteer to find the appliances, and the happy mother was able to pick them up a couple of days later. Stories like these highlight our volunteer’s hearts, but also how amazing our God’s timing is.
ServeLocal is unique because it is one of the few volunteer organizations where volunteers are able to meet the clients, get to know them, and truly be the light in someone’s day. We highly encourage you to volunteer so you can see how God is working in lives right here in our community. Use the Sign Up form to register, since we have volunteers that travel long distances (Marysville!) and we want to make sure everyone has an important job when they are involved. If you can’t make it out in October but want to help in another way, we are always happy to receive cereal, peanut butter, jelly, and canned protein (tuna or chicken).
